My no-craze Cone 6 Clear
Hi Friends! Here is my clear cone 6 glaze that I formulated to not craze on my cone 6 porcelain clay body. Please note that your milage may vary and it may not be a craze free glaze on different clay bodies. But, if you happen to use a Cone 6 porcelain (I use Laguna #16 porcelain) give it a try, it might just work lovely for you:) Further note: DO NOT USE IN A CONE 10 KILN!! This is formulated for Cone 6 and will run all over your shelves if you fire to Cone 10. I have fired a hot Cone 7 and it was just fine, but please test with a drip tray if you fire hotter than Cone 6.
The Sassalope Clear
Neph Sy 19.5
Whiting 9.5
Flint 33
EPK 20
3134 (Frit) 18
Bentonite 2
This is just a nice glossy clear to try, it’s also a great base glaze to test adding small amounts of colorants if you want to start exploring that :) Adding the bentonite is a personal choice, I tend to add it to all my glazes but I think I’ve heard you don’t really need to if you have more than 10% clay in your recipe. I’m not 100% sure on that though.
Enjoy!
